His parents more or less fell in love during battle against Emperor Ronan MacFeorais. WHAM Kari hid out for several years in the demon realms before she joined up with the X-Men at the behest of her brother Branan, and she died as one of them. Ryu Harada came to avenge his love's death, but he, too, was cut down by Emperor Ronan's forces. Ichigo, before all that drama, grew up as a full demon prince, but even his upbringing could not save him from the torment of believing his aunt Camelia killed his mother and that his father was cut down by his own grandfather. Ichigo can be brash and a pain in the butt most of the time, and while his methods can be crazy, he seems to get the job done.
